Show jumping is one of equestrian sport's most thrilling disciplines — a horse and rider pair navigating a course of numbered fences against the clock, testing precision, partnership, and nerve in equal measure. Rooted in 19th-century England, where fox hunters were first forced to jump fenced country after the Enclosure Acts, the sport was transformed in the early 20th century by the forward riding seat, and has been part of the Olympic Games since 1912 — one of the few sports where men and women compete on entirely equal terms.
In Singapore, show jumping has grown into a competitive high-performance pathway. The Equestrian Federation of Singapore (EFS) governs the discipline nationally, selecting and preparing riders for regional and international competition and running the National Jumping Championships. The sport is practised across the island's riding clubs — from the Singapore Polo Club to the National Equestrian Centre, home to the national training programme, and the Bukit Timah Saddle Club.
Singapore's jumpers proving themselves regionally, including a team gold at the 2015 SEA Games on home ground, and a team bronze in jumping at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
